Exploration, Excitement, Experiences. They’re what the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course is all about. And no, you don’t have to be “advanced” to take it – it’s designed so you can go straight into it after the PADI Open Water Diver course.

The Advanced Open Water Diver course helps you increase your confidence and build your scuba skills so you can become more comfortable in the water.This is a great way to get more dives under your belt while continuing to learn under the supervision of your PADI Instructor. This course builds on what you’ve learned and develops new capabilities by introducing you to new activities and new ways to have fun scuba diving.

You’ll hone your skills by completing five adventure dives that introduce you to:

  • Underwater navigation
  • Deeper water diving  (typically anywhere from 18-30 metres/ 60-100 feet)
  • A sampler of three more Adventure Dives of your choice

One reason you’ll love the Advanced Open Water Diver course consists of Deep, and Navigation dives as well as three elective dives, generally Peak Performance Buoyancy, Drift Diving,  Boat diving, Underwater Photography, or Underwater Naturalist/Fish Identification. Combined these electives will help strengthen your experience and knowledge base, improving your scuba diving skills.

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN

The knowledge and skills you get in the Advanced Open Water Diver course vary with your interest and the adventures you have, but include

  • Practical aspects of deep diving
  • Physiological effects of deeper scuba diving.
  • More ways to use your underwater compass
  • How to navigate using kick-cycles, visual landmarks and time
  • How to better use your dive computer and electronic Recreational Dive PlannerTM (eRDPTM)
  • And much, much more, depending on the Adventure Dives you choose

PRE-REQUISITES

To take this course, you must be:

  • A PADI Open Water Diver  (or qualifying certification from another training organization)
  • 15 years old (12 for Junior Advanced Open Water Diver)

The Advanced Open Water Diver Course Online gets you started right now with the background information you need for the seven of the most popular Adventure Dives (though you and your instructor can still choose any of the Adventure Dives.)

Book With Confidence Cancellation and Refund Policy

Our cancellation policy is designed with our customers and the dive vessels we work with in mind. We will always do our best to reschedule courses or dives and offer alternatives if available. When you book direct with us for any of our dive courses or dive trips you have the comfort and security of knowing that you will get a full refund should you decide to cancel your booking as long as you cancel in accordance with our cancellation policy.

You can cancel your scheduled Open Water Diver Certification Course for any reason at any time up to 72 hours prior to the start of your course and receive a full refund of all money paid to Cairns Dive School. There is no refund for any reason after this time. This includes factors beyond your/our control including medical problems, airline delays bad weather, etc. - ' Competition and Consumer Act 2010'. If you plan to book through a travel agent please ask if they have any cancellation fees.

PADI Open Water Referral Course cancelations – We have a unique policy that if, for any reason, anyone wishes to cancel at the end of day one of the Referral Course we offer an immediate refund of $175. You will not receive credit toward the PADI Open Water course.

Important Information to Consider Prior to Scheduling your Course

  • The minimum age to learn to dive in Queensland is 12. There is no maximum age.
  • Your participation in the PADI Open Water Diver Course and the PADI Discover Scuba Course requires that you meet the Queensland Medical Requirements and complete a Medical Release form. If you are unsure of your medical status you may want to acquire an Australian Standard Dive Medical AS4005.1.
  • The PADI Open Water Diver course requires that you be able to swim 200 metres or snorkel 300 metres and tread water/float for 10 minutes.
  • It is strongly recommended that you do not fly within 24 hours of your last open water training dive or additional recreational dives.

Medical Clearance

You may require a Medical Clearance from a doctor prior to starting your referral course. If you:

  • Have or have had any of the medical conditions mentioned in the Medical Declaration; OR
  • Are over 45; OR
  • Have a Body Mass Index (BMI) of more than 30 AND a waist circumference of more than 102cm for males or 88cm for females.

You will need to provide a written statement by a Medical Practitioner (preferably with experience in diving medicine) that states you are 'Fit To Scuba Dive' if you have any of the above or answer a YES question on the Student Diver Medical Declaration. Some medical conditions or prescription medication may prevent you from diving.
