If you haven’t been diving for a while a Scuba Review Tune-up is just the refresher you need before you venture out to the Great Barrier Reef. This 3 hour course will reacquaint you with diving so that you’re back to feeling comfortable and capable in the underwater world.

You’ll feel confident and excited for your dive trip during the ride out to the reef, instead of feeling anxious or scared. The Scuba Review course is particularly beneficial if you are a PADI Open Water Diver or Any certification level that has been out of the water for 6 months or more.

ABOUT THE COURSE

You will use all the basic scuba gear similar to what you’ll use on your dive trip and we’ll reacquaint you with all the names and functions. Feel free to bring your own personal gear to make sure its in good working order and become comfortable using it again.

You’ll go over basic scuba knowledge you learned during your initial training. Then, practice fundamental skills in our training pool.

After you complete the knowledge assessment, you’ll go through the Confined Water Skills. You will review information about each skill, why it’s important, points to remember when performing the skill. Completing this section just before your dive is a great way to refresh your knowledge of how each skill is performed.

Book With Confidence Cancellation and Refund Policy

Our cancellation policy is designed with our customers and the dive vessels we work with in mind. We will always do our best to reschedule courses or dives and offer alternatives if available. When you book direct with us for any of our dive courses or dive trips you have the comfort and security of knowing that you will get a full refund should you decide to cancel your booking as long as you cancel in accordance with our cancellation policy.

You can cancel your scheduled Open Water Diver Certification Course for any reason at any time up to 72 hours prior to the start of your course and receive a full refund of all money paid to Cairns Dive School. There is no refund for any reason after this time. This includes factors beyond your/our control including medical problems, airline delays bad weather, etc. - ' Competition and Consumer Act 2010'. If you plan to book through a travel agent please ask if they have any cancellation fees.

PADI Open Water Referral Course cancelations – We have a unique policy that if, for any reason, anyone wishes to cancel at the end of day one of the Referral Course we offer an immediate refund of $175. You will not receive credit toward the PADI Open Water course.

Important Information to Consider Prior to Scheduling your Course

  • The minimum age to learn to dive in Queensland is 12. There is no maximum age.
  • Your participation in the PADI Open Water Diver Course and the PADI Discover Scuba Course requires that you meet the Queensland Medical Requirements and complete a Medical Release form. If you are unsure of your medical status you may want to acquire an Australian Standard Dive Medical AS4005.1.
  • The PADI Open Water Diver course requires that you be able to swim 200 metres or snorkel 300 metres and tread water/float for 10 minutes.
  • It is strongly recommended that you do not fly within 24 hours of your last open water training dive or additional recreational dives.

Medical Clearance

You may require a Medical Clearance from a doctor prior to starting your referral course. If you:

  • Have or have had any of the medical conditions mentioned in the Medical Declaration; OR
  • Are over 45; OR
  • Have a Body Mass Index (BMI) of more than 30 AND a waist circumference of more than 102cm for males or 88cm for females.

You will need to provide a written statement by a Medical Practitioner (preferably with experience in diving medicine) that states you are 'Fit To Scuba Dive' if you have any of the above or answer a YES question on the Student Diver Medical Declaration. Some medical conditions or prescription medication may prevent you from diving.
